Despite summer being my favorite season, by the time August rolls around, I'm usually feeling like a summer sloth. Lots of sleep, slower pace, saying yes to all the things and all the foods… and while I’m making the best memories, my choices sometimes leave me feeling slow and sluggish. I’m grateful for a season of YES but I am also feeling very motivated to get back on track. Today, I'm sharing simple ways to REBOOT as we usher in the fall season.
If we want to reboot our current workout routine and lifestyle, we've got to start small. Can you commit to daily movement for the next 30 days? Even as little as 10 minutes, per day? Let’s shoot for consistency over intensity and I bet we’ll find ourselves in a much better place to start crushing new goals this fall.
Here are a few easy ways to increase your movement throughout your daily life, despite your busy schedule!
Take a short walk! Find yourself feeling bloated and uncomfortable...
I want to talk about a phrase I’ve been seeing all over the place: Just love yourself.
Sounds simple, right? But as you’ve probably guessed, it’s a lot harder than that, and “loving yourself” looks different for everyone and changes day-to-day.
How about we take a minute to reframe our notions of what self-love means. What if love-self is simply “an acceptance of who you are and a commitment to personal growth.” I like the sound of that much better. Not only does it feel attainable, but it’s simple and powerful enough to profoundly change our lives, and those around us.
Whitney Goodman, LMFT, author of Toxic Positivity: Keeping It Real in a World Obsessed with Being Happy, says “Self-love isn’t navel-gazing and never contributing to the world. It’s actually the best foundation to have a loving, healthy partnership with someone else. It’s the best foundation to be a...
I hope this note finds you well, filled with the warmth of the summer sun and the joy of new experiences. Yesterday, I celebrated my 44th birthday and I wanted to take a moment to share a story of resilience, love, and the strength that lies within each and every one of us.
As many of you know, my fiancé, Fran, his son, Owen, and I had been eagerly looking forward to embarking on a grand adventure down the picturesque Pacific Coast Highway, from the beautiful city of Seattle all the way to sunny San Diego. It was going to be a journey filled with breathtaking views, cherished memories, and the freedom of the open road. However, life had other plans for us.
In the past few months, our lives took an unexpected turn as both Fran's mother and my own father faced health challenges. We found ourselves navigating a whirlwind of emergency room visits, surgeries, and even the devastating news of a cancer diagnosis. In the face of such adversity, we knew that our road...
Summer means parties, nights out, catered events, airport food, and hotel meals. While that isn’t ideal most of the year, summer is a new season with its own routines. So instead of skipping out or over-indulging, we’re striving for balance when we find ourselves eating out more than normal! Summer is also a great opportunity to try new foods! Summer produce is abundant – load up on healthy, fresh goodness that is also lighter fare! The markets are overflowing with bright colors and delicious, season items! |

How's your summer going?! Ok, I LOVE saying that... even though the official day of summer isn't until the 21st... It feels fabulous now that the weather in New England is catching up with our summer attitudes. Slower pace, more time for friends and family, a chance to change it up… But with all the change that summer brings, it can sometimes be hard to figure out a new schedule and routine – one that accounts for a change in season but doesn’t derail you from your goals and progress. In order to have a successful summer, we've got to schedule it. But schedule what, exactly?! |
Graduation parties, weddings, end of school, beach trips + BBQs… my calendar is filling up with all of this goodness which is how I know summer is right around the corner! To say I have been waiting all year for summer to come would be an understatement. Sunshine, hanging out with friends and family, a more “relaxed” schedule and vibe… it’s truly best. And with the start of summer comes a whole new schedule. Maybe we’re in different homes, different cities, have our kids home with us, find ourselves eating out more than usual, and, of course, having more FUN! And that’s great! Life has seasons for a reason… we’re not meant to keep doing the same thing over and over again, every day. So with our summer season on the horizon, it’s time to take stock of your warm-weather plans and find a new-to-you schedule that will help prioritize your fitness goals AND let you have lots of fun. |

Good Tuesday Morning! I hope this email finds you feeling good, inside and out. I've been wanting to share this email for a while and didn't feel like it was ever the right time... until now...mostly because it comes up at least once a day and partly because of the time of year. The topic that many of us can relate to: weight loss. It's a goal that often occupies our minds, especially as summer approaches, and one that can feel like "if only" it happened, everything else would fall into place. However, I believe that in our pursuit of weight loss, we often overlook the most crucial element for sustainable change: addressing the root of our habits and behaviors. If we are holding extra weight, it is a symptom, not a cause; and just focusing on losing the weight is like avoiding surgery or take the time for rest and true recovery for a serious injury by taking Advil everyday... sound familiar? Rather than solely focusing on shedding pounds, I'd like to offer you a different... |
Problems? Nah. We've got solutions. Yes! It's an honor to be the place you've chosen to help you with your health, wellness, fitness, confidence and community! I still pinch myself that I get to do this as my "job"... ha! I hit the jackpot and am grateful we can be on this path together. Here are a few ways that our beautiful tribe has shared how we've helped over the years:

It's hard to believe that it's the last Tuesday in April... ah, spring... I love the energy Spring brings: newness, endless possibilities, an “out with the old, in with the new” mentality, renewed hope that things can change, and a reminder that seasons of growth always follow seasons of darkness. And while I'm ready to break free from my winter cocoon and emerge a new creation, sometimes I need to just focus on the small things and rebuild my foundation. We’ve been focusing on tiny but mighty habits that can make a world of difference for you. We’ve talked about the importance of water, walking, and sleep: simple and effective daily goals that are low lift but have a huge impact on our emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Focusing on these “boring basics” – like sleep, water, and walking – will strengthen your foundation, allowing you to tackle bigger goals and challenges in the future. Like I’ve... |
