Building ⚒️ a Habit of Gratitude

Nov 19, 2024

“The more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for.” — Norman Vincent Peale

With December just around the corner and Thanksgiving about 10 days away, it’s the perfect time to focus on setting our minds and spirits at ease before the holiday rush begins. At FIERCE, we’re committing this month to a daily gratitude practice—one that not only grounds us now but carries us through the entire year. Gratitude is at the core of everything we do, and we’d love to share this practice with you.

If you’re finding it difficult to stick with your gratitude practice, revisiting a simple yet effective method for building lasting habits—habit stacking—might help. By attaching gratitude to something you already do, it can become a seamless part of your day.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • As you brush your teeth, take a moment to think of one thing you’re grateful for from the day before.
  • When making your morning coffee or tea, list three things you're thankful for while you wait.
  • While driving or commuting, reflect on a few things that bring you joy or peace.
  • After finishing a workout, think of one way your body supports you that you appreciate.
  • As you prepare meals, take a moment to express gratitude for the food and the people who helped bring it to your table.
  • While scrolling through social media, pause and share a note of gratitude with someone who has impacted your life.
  • When winding down for bed, write down three things you’re grateful for that day.

By stacking gratitude onto habits you already have, you’ll find it becomes second nature—just like any other part of your routine.

I hope these suggestions inspire you to infuse more gratitude into your life each day!

Grateful for YOU,
