Hello October, you beautiful month, you! Fall has officially been ushered in with cool temps and changing leaves, Barbara. After a full summer of travel and events, I love the transition to a new season. Fall can be the perfect opportunity to slow down and spend some more time at home. While it’s chilly outside and homey inside, I encourage you to lean into warming, calming, and restorative practices. In an NPR article, author Heller McAlpin, touches on the need for rest and rejuvenation by highlighting Katherine May’s book, Wintering. May uses that term in her book, which she describes as hibernating, healing, and re-grouping as a means for getting through hard times. May writes, “Doing these deeply unfashionable things — slowing down, letting your spare time expand, getting enough sleep, resting — is a radical act now, but it is essential.” Do those words hit you the way they hit me?
