First up: FOOD!  That's definitely been a go-to for me and while the first few days (ok, the first week) felt like a free-for-all, I have pulled in the reins. I love trying out new recipes for dinners each week and enjoy exploring healthier versions of yummy treats.  My favorites so far are Black Bean EnchiladasGrilled Avocado ChickenAlmond Berry Muffins, and No-Bake Energy Bites.

An Easy Way to Build a Routine

fierce habits routine Mar 24, 2020

Routines...remember those things, Derith?!

Yeah, they can definitely feel like a thing of the past these days as we find ourselves in a place that is anything but routine.

I know, I know... the temptation to stay up late, sleep in, skip workouts, and eat just because we have access to food all day, is strong!  Leaning in to this temptation for the short term can feel good, even therapeutic but as

So, where do we start? How do we create a routine, a schedule, anything that resembles some structure and/or normalcy?

We. Start. Small.

A routine is simply a set of good habits we develop as a daily practice. It is about creating a system that works for you in your current season of life. And, it is a practice, meaning there is plenty of room for trial and error.

Let's begin.

  1. Set Bedtime/Wakeup Times
    • This is where it all begins
    • Go to bed & wake-up at roughly the same time everyday
    • Allow some flex on weekends but otherwise keep it...

Natural Ways to Boost Immunity & Reduce Stress

Uncategorized Mar 17, 2020

Good Morning, Aileena!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Are you wearing green?

Speaking of "green"... today we're talking about natural ways to boost your immunity and reduce stress which both include green:  eating greens like kale, broccoli, and cabbage, and getting outside in nature!

I'm sharing more ideas than that below but if you remember nothing else from this email, then remember green: eat it, drink it, and live in it!

Our immune system is our defense against infection and attacks germs to keep us healthy.  If there was ever a time to buckle down on our immunity and do everything we can to boost it up, it is now.

So, let's get this defense going!

Natural (and easy) Ways to Boost Immunity:

  1. Nourish Your Body
    • Feed your body with nutrient-dense food
    • Citrus fruits, kiwi, red and green peppers, broccoli, strawberries, almonds, sunflower seeds, oysters, baked beans, cashews, chickpeas, carrots, mango, papaya, oily fish, flaxseed,...

Spring C.L.E.A.N. ` Home, Body & Mind

Uncategorized Feb 18, 2020

Hellooooo March!

It's heeeeerrrrrreeeeee!

Even though the first official day of spring isn't until March 19th, you already might be feeling the urge to pull out those rubber gloves, roll up your sleeves, and give your home a good top to bottom scrubbing.

And why not? Clearing out the clutter helps us prepare to enjoy the warm (and hopefully productive) months to come; and decluttering always feels good.

Well, this new year, 2020, is a also the start of a new decade and a FANTASTIC opportunity to do things a little differently to get us closer to that zen state we are seeking.

"What do we do differently?" you ask.  Well, we're going to spring clean not only our homes but our bodies and minds and "then some" too!

And, to make it easy, we're using the acronym C.L.E.A.N. for each category so you can immediately put these into fierce action baby!

Here we go! Check it out below!

When You Don't Have Time

Uncategorized Feb 05, 2020

"Who's got time for that?"

Yup, I think we've all said that at some time or another when it comes to something we would like to do but don't have enough time to do it...

Or, we sometimes have the time to do it but you know... life happens.

And, hands-down, anytime I ask what the biggest obstacle to doing what we want to do, not having enough TIME is the #1 answer.

So, I have put together several 5-minute time hacks to help you incorporate healthy habits into your busy days as quickly as possible.

Make it happen!

Uncategorized Feb 04, 2020

Good Morning, Kendall!

It's the last Tuesday in January for 2020 and this is one of those times of year when our to-do list feels a mile long, we are overwhelmed and we wonder how we're going to get it all done.

Juggling what we have to do with with what want to do plus all of little bits and surprises throughout our day can be quit the challenge.

I can definitely relate to being "busy" all day and then at the end of the day feeling like you didn't get anything done!

I've learned that this is a matter of priority management vs time managementand I wanted share my 5 "D" Method to help you whittle down your to-do list as we tackle this last week in January!

The 5 "D" Method:

  1. Dump

  2. Delegate

  3. Defer

  4. Delete

  5. Do

* You can save the image below and use it as a reference any time you need it!

Dump

  • Just let the pen flow and see what comes up

Delegate

  • Who can help you?  Even if they...

The 20 Minute Secret for a Stellar 2020

Yesterday was the 20th day of 2020! Ba-Boom! I love the sound of that and thought it was the ideal time to share the 20 minute secret for a stellar 2020... which you can do every single day in the simplest of ways!

What's the secret???

I shared a quick coaching session about this in a video last night that you can watch below, and I also wanted to give you a quick rundown so you can get started today!

The secret to having stellar days, weeks, and months that turn into a stellar year is to start your morning the night before!

Yup, that's it! I know, I know... not the sexiest answer, and perhaps one you've heard before; but it IS the practical and actionable answer that will help propel you forward fast!

Setting aside 20 minutes each night to get started on tomorrow allows you to go to bed feeling relaxed, reduces the number of decisions you need to make in the morning, and creates a calmer start to your day!

40 Years of Lessons, Quotes, & Thoughts

Uncategorized Jul 09, 2019

How did you feel when you turned 40?

If you haven't turned 40 yet, what do you think of when you hear 40?

Well, tomorrow is July 10th and it's my 40th birthday.

"It's my 40th birthday."

That statement used to make me cringe and today I'm happy to say that I LOVE that I'm turning 40! My life looks nothing like I planned and that is the most beautiful piece of this whole puzzle!

For me, 40 is the new love affair... a love affair with myself.

Now, I know that can sound super-duper cheesy but to me the last year and a half (and particularly the last 6 months) have truly been a love affair of consciously infusing self-love into my life.

Last year on my birthday, I was inspired to share 39 years of lessons, quotes, and thoughts that have impacted my life, or at least the ones I could remember in my 39 years, in hopes that you'd find some inspiration to celebrate the deliciousness in your life too!

I re-read that share and all 39 still ring true today. ...

3 Minute Gratitude Journal Challenge

Uncategorized May 14, 2019

What if today…

we were just grateful for everything?

the rain, the sunshine, the birds, the traffic, the trees, our breakfast, spilled coffee, warm coffee, for every smile, every stranger, every text, every conversation, every person, our lunch, our cars, our homes, our bodies, our work, our rest, our families, our efforts, our to-do lists, our choices, our breath, the things we didn't get done, our hearts, and ourselves...

What if?

According to Harvard Health Publishing, “In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.”

Now, ask yourself that question again.

What if today we were just grateful for everything?

You could not only improve your happiness, but you could improve your health! What’s not to love? (haha, get it?)

One of my...
