3 Minute Gratitude Journal Challenge

Uncategorized May 14, 2019

What if today…

we were just grateful for everything?

the rain, the sunshine, the birds, the traffic, the trees, our breakfast, spilled coffee, warm coffee, for every smile, every stranger, every text, every conversation, every person, our lunch, our cars, our homes, our bodies, our work, our rest, our families, our efforts, our to-do lists, our choices, our breath, the things we didn't get done, our hearts, and ourselves...

What if?

According to Harvard Health Publishing, “In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.”

Now, ask yourself that question again.

What if today we were just grateful for everything?

You could not only improve your happiness, but you could improve your health! What’s not to love? (haha, get it?)

One of my all-time favorite gratitude practices is to keep a gratitude journal. I simply write what I’m grateful for each day to train my brain to focus on life’s simple pleasures every day.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough.”  — Melody Beattie

Want to incorporate a gratitude journal exercise into your life to shift each day to a higher frequency?

Here is a 3-minute daily gratitude journaling practice that will change your perspective, and change your life.

  1. Go to the Dollar Store or Target and grab a notebook to keep next to your bed, or in your work bag/purse.
  2. Set a timer for 3 minutes and go to work! Write down everything you’re grateful for that day. It can be anything from a good hair day to health.
  3. Read your list aloud, either to yourself or to an accountability buddy.

That’s it!

Try this practice for 30 days straight and you will actually rewire your brain to look for things to be grateful for throughout the day.

What are you thankful for today?

Today, I AM GRATEFUL for you!

Thank you, Charlie Brown, for this simple and phenomenal reminder.
