Disappearing Weekends?

Disappearing weekends...yeah, it's a thing. We look forward to it all week and almost as soon as it starts, it's over.

Did you know that there's 60 hours between that 6 p.m. Friday glass of wine and that 6 a.m. Monday alarm clock?

Shocking, I know.

Even if you sleep for 24 of those hours, that leaves 36 waking ones. That’s plenty of time for fun, relaxation and more importantly, recharging the batteries. However, we often try to cram in as much as humanly possible... errands, get togethers, downtime, workouts, grocery shopping... as time quickly slips away, creating that disappearing act we're all too familiar with.

We want weekends that allow us to decompress from the week while having time for some fun AND leaving us feeling refreshed, not exhausted or disappointed, so we can hit Monday ready to go. Am I right?

It IS possible to create this harmony in our weekends. It just takes a little guidance and some fierce intention.

5 Easy Ways to Most the Most Out of Your Weekends

 

  1. Make a Plan
    • A skeleton plan is sufficient here which gives you the outline of events and activities you've committed to
    • Then, plan out the things you NEED to do to keep you on track & prep you for next week, i.e., workouts, groceries, laundry, meal prep, etc.
  2. Be Flexible
    • Part of what we love about weekends is the flexibility, so having a flexible plan that includes a few open blocks of time will give you the freedom to be spontaneous and take advantage of unexpected options that come up.
  3. Get Active
    • We usually have more time on the weekends making it ideal to MOVE our bodies MORE!
    • I recommend including one extra long or super-intense workout over the weekend because we have the time to recover.
    • This is a game-changer for your fitness!!!
  4. Rest/Recharge
    • What do you need to truly rest and recover so you feel recharged for the new week?
    • Do THAT!
    • Time alone, a luxurious bath, a massage, a long drive, anything goes. Know what you need and make it happen!
  5. Make Monday Easier
    • Always include something that will make Monday easier
    • Whether it's laying out clothes, prepping coffee, prepping dinner or not scheduling meetings on Monday, get it done.
    • You'll head into the week prepared with more energy!
